Ways To Improve Your Sleep And Increase Energy Levels

April 25, 2017 by Samuel H Leave a Comment

It seems that there are many people who are not aware of the importance of a good night’s sleep. Most people are practicing a hectic lifestyle which doesn’t leave much free time even for sleeping. They reduce their time to sleep in order to be more productive.

But, the truth is that lack of sleep will lead to terrible performance, mentally and physically. In case you are providing complete effort in physical training sessions, your body will definitely require more time for recovery and proper sleep is the best way to achieve this goal.

Sleeping is not a waste of time as many people believe. Cutting your time for sleeping in order to finish more things, especially in the long run, is a bad choice. As a matter of fact, lack of sleep on a regular basis is often compared to the effects caused by intoxication with drugs and alcohol.

These signs include:

  • Reduced comprehension ability
  • Inability to determine how sleep deprived you are

3 Things To Help You Sleep Better

  1. Establishing priorities

Planning your day ahead is a wise move and how well you sleep should be an important part of this plan. In other words, your sleep should be a top priority.

  1. Sleep hygiene

Washing your hands on a regular basis, throwing away used tissues, bathing – these are some of the regular hygiene-related practiced that modern people follow. But, have you ever thought about sleep hygiene?

There are a few things that you can do to improve this hygiene and enhance the quality of sleep. First of all, you should sleep in a dark room in order to avoid disruptions and disturbance. Next, you should prepare yourself for a sleep by getting rid of electronic devices, cooling down the bedroom, turning off the lights a few minutes before you go to bed. Finally, practice meditation before bedtime for a better sleep.

  1. Creating a pattern

The human body can easily adjust to any situations. This means that creating a pattern is good for the body at least when it comes to sleeping. Choose when the best time to go to bed is and when you want to wake up and stick to this schedule. Follow this practice even during non-working days.

  • According to some experts, one of the main reasons why people feel out of balance on Monday is that they sleep in a different way during the weekend.
  • Another thing that is worth remembering is that alcohol can sometimes help you fall asleep faster, but it will reduce the quality of sleep.

So, how can people increase their energy levels?

Now let’s highlight few other things that each of us can do to improve their sleep and to feel more energetic especially in the morning.

Hydration

Hydration is the most important thing for those who want to stay alerted throughout the day and refreshed and energized in the morning once they wake up. Remember that many people urinate in the middle of the night and when they wake up in the morning they are practically dehydrated. So, it’s crucial to drink at least half a liter of water in the morning (in the first hour). In this way, you will stay alerted and you will avoid all the negative things associated with dehydration.

Meditation

We have already mentioned meditation in this article, but we will point out its’ importance once again. Namely, meditation can play a crucial role in our efforts to feel energized especially after we wake up. By practicing yoga for just 5 to 10 minutes, you will be able to stay focused on your daily tasks.

Exercise

With the help of regular exercising, you will keep the bodily systems and your organs awake. If you don’t have enough time, you should know that sometimes a 10-minute jog can do the job. One effective exercise method is doing yoga on a regular basis. You should check out a compelling system to have fun while exercising.

Showering

Practice regular showering with cold and hot periods. For example, begin with an ordinary hot shower and slowly start lowering the temperature to cold. After that, increase the temperature and vice versa. Do this for 2 or 3 times. Always finish the showering with cold water if you want to be fully prepared for the challenges that the day brings.

Proper Nutrition

What we eat is very important for many aspects of our lives. What is important for your energy levels is to eat breakfast that contains all the necessary nutrients that will keep you moving through the rest of the day. Your breakfast should include carbs and protein because they have a direct impact on the levels of energy. Stick to all-natural, organic food free of artificial components. The artificial components can provide a quick boost of energy, but they will drain this energy faster later.

5 things That Are Draining Your Energy And How To Fix Them

April 25, 2017 by Samuel H Leave a Comment

It is not unusual for modern men and women to complain about the lack of energy. On the other hand, feeling rested and energetic is crucial for our performance throughout the day. In case you are feeling tired and lethargic without any particular reason, you should know that there are some hidden causes that lead to this problem. Here’s the list of 5 things that are draining your energy and how to fix them.

  1. You are not very mobile

A workout you perform from time to time is not enough. In case you are exercising 60 minutes per day and you spend the rest of the day sitting, you are not an active individual. Obviously, performing some physical activities is obviously better than being completely inactive, but in order to witness changes in your energy levels, you must focus on other things too.

If you want to solve this problem, you should understand that humans don’t use energy, they make it. By becoming more mobile and start moving more frequently, all the tissues in the body will start creating a type of energy that can be compared to AC current charging cells. In case you are sitting for a long time, just stand up and perform 50 squats and you will instantly boost your energy. This incredible change in the neurotransmitters and hormones will help you beat that lethargic feeling. Feel free to try it – it won’t cost you anything but a few minutes of your time. It is a good idea to set a reminder on your smartphone to perform 2 minutes of jumping jacks or squats every hour and a half. You will definitely notice the difference later.

  1. You have poor sleep cycles

It is possible to feel tired even if you sleep between seven and eight hours a day. The reason is simple – your sleep cycles are not optimized. They are separated into few cycles that last up to 90 minutes and each cycle is focused on the different activity.

Things like high blood sugar levels and increased levels of stress can disrupt the sleep cycles. Instead of focusing on the time you spend in bed, focus on the sleep cycles. Experts advise increased sunlight exposure, especially in the morning when the UV lights are not harmful. They can stabilize cortisol levels. In addition, a healthy diet supports sleep cycles.

  1. Your body lacks important nutrients

Deficiency related to important nutrients can be another cause of lack of energy. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is the most important source of energy on a cellular level. But, this source is ineffective without the presence of magnesium.

In case you didn’t know, magnesium is an essential mineral that contributes to more than 300 enzymatic processes in the body and most of them are related to our energy levels and our health in general. To fix this problem, you should change your diet and include foods rich in magnesium like pumpkin seeds, chard, spinach, and almonds. A magnesium supplement is another option.

  1. You must consume more fluids

Our DNA can get significantly damaged due to cell dehydration. As a result of that, the nervous system and the brain are monitoring hydration levels and act accordingly. If the fluid balance is disrupted, you will notice fatigue and headaches.

The majority of people know that it is important to drink water throughout the day, but only a small number of them are following this advice. Water helps every cell, organ, and tissue to work properly. If the body lacks water content, you will immediately notice the signs of fatigue.

Upon drinking one glass of water, the body turns that water into extracellular fluid and blood and eliminates the fluid that is packed with metabolic waste. In case you are not drinking water, this waste will start accumulating in the body leading to many health issues including lack of energy.

Solving this issue is not difficult. You must drink 50% of your body weight measured in ounces per day. For instance, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink 80 ounces of water per day.  In addition, you should start drinking water right after when you wake up. Drink about 20 once you leave the bathroom in the morning.

  1. Use the stress to your own advantage

A scientific study conducted now while ago and presented in the popular Journal of the American Medical Association, about 8 out of 10 physician visits are related to stress-induced problems. So, stress is one of the main reasons why people feel the lack of energy today. However, just 3% of patients are interested in getting stress management counseling.

Stress is bad for the levels of energy in many different ways. When the levels of stress are very high, the adrenal glands are working at maximum speed. In this way, the stress hormones including cortisol are reaching record high levels. For those who didn’t know, excess levels of cortisol in the body result in a surge of glucose. This is quite natural because the body is doing its best to protect itself from the stress.

Increased glucose ultimately results in crashes. For many modern people, this is an occurrence that they have to experience every day.

What’s important to understand is that this situation can be solved. Replace the sugar and caffeine as food to boost your energy and find a way to use stress to your own advantage. For example, breathing exercises can help you. Restorative yoga, meditation, pilates, massage therapy – these are just some of the options to have to reduce levels of stress and use the stress that you cannot relieve to improve focus and concentration. You will definitely feel more energetic once you start practicing these activities.

Identify the most suitable practice for you, and use it for at least five minutes per day. A regular 5 to 10-minute activity can help your body and brain fight stress and make sure that you have enough energy to finish all your daily tasks. A Few Great Morning Habits That Will Boost Your Energy

April 25, 2017 by Samuel H Leave a Comment

Once you are up in the morning, take some time to say thank you for the life, strength, and light you have in your life. Say thank you for the food and for the miracle we call life. In case you find it difficult to say thank you, then you should definitely work on yourself.

It turns out that the habits people have in the morning, be it negative or positive, usually affect the way in which the rest of the day goes. So, when you develop and practice good habits in the morning and you stick to them, you should expect to enjoy good days every week and vice versa. Of course, practicing a regular good night’s sleep should be your top priority but this is just one element that contributes to your energy levels. Once you are awake, the first things you do are equally important as the quality of sleep.

This article is focused on six simple, yet extremely effective morning habits that will guarantee maximum positive energy and other advantages throughout the day.

1. Take some time to meditate

There is no doubt that meditation is an activity that has great positive impact on our mind condition. Numerous studies including the ones conducted at Harvard Medical School have shown that this practice shapes our brain and makes it more productive, efficient, mindful and positive.

Even though many people think that meditation is all about sitting quietly for half an hour, it’s not. For example, you can practice mindful breathing which requires taking deep breathes. You can also practice some other meditation-related things which won’t take you more than 10-15 minutes. Click here for more information.

2. Stay away from your smartphone at least for a while

Many people look at their smartphone and connect to the Internet when they finally wake up. But, instead of wasting your time on this energy-draining activity, you can make and manage a journal that will include all your ambitions, objectives, goals and even your dreams. If you have dreamed of an interesting and possibly useful dream, write these things down.

Manage a journal like this and keep it close to the bed. Read parts of the content before bedtime. In this way, you will stay positive and energetic and forget about all the negativities that surround us.

3. Rely on visualization

Visualization provides similar positive effects like meditation. This is a practice that encourages people to create a mental image of their goals, desires or anything they want. Obviously, in this situation you will have to visualize your perfect day.

For instance, before going to work, imagine and visualize the route you are about to take, the communication with people, the things you’ll have to finish, the feeling you want to have and more. According to many experts, this is an excellent way to improve your productivity without causing stress to your body and mind.

4. Grab a warm drink

Now this is a more physical practice. You can choose any drink you want even though it would be a better idea to replace your traditional coffee with lukewarm lemon water or tea. This is especially true for lemon water because this natural beverage is able to speed up the metabolism, eliminate bacteria from the throat and mouth and make you feel energetic.

As you are drinking (any drink), think about the positive effects of that drink. This practice should maximize these effects.

5. Take care of your bed posture

If you want to be more energetic in the morning you must think about your bed posture too. A huge number of people feel tired even after a long period of sleeping. One of the reasons is that they don’t think about the way they get out of their bed in the morning.

It’s a good idea to create a practice in which you will set an upright body posture whenever you are getting out of it. So, just roll over on the right side of the body and push upwards into a straight sitting position. Carefully rotate the body, put the feet flat on the ground and stand up slowly. Keep the back straight.

In this way, you will eliminate the stress you are causing to the back, heart and your mind.

6. Have a balanced, high-quality breakfast

We have all heard the saying that the breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The food we eat in the morning will as a fuel. Our body uses these nutrients to enhance the mood, energy, and productiveness.

Additionally, there are many simple and easy recipes that you can prepare found on the Internet. In case you don’t have much time, feel free to use your microwave to prepare oatmeal or fry one organic egg or enjoy a small whole-grain toast with butter.

Just like in the case of the warm drink practice, follow a healthy diet which includes a breakfast prepared with gratitude in mind.
