Do you suffer from acne? Many of us do, unfortunately. Acne is a real problem for a lot of people, especially during the adolescent years.
There are plenty of insanely expensive ways to clear out acne these days, usually requiring the use of a laser. While I’m pro technological advancement, acne can be cured from the comfort of your home by following some simple remedies:
Wash Your Face Regularly
When I say regularly, I don’t mean to wash your face every few minutes. Acne-prone skin is sensitive and can get irritated if you wash it too often. You should wash your face at least twice a day when you first wake up and just before going to bed.
You should also wash your face whenever you’ve been sweating. Whatever you do, don’t wipe your sweat off with a towel as that can cause further damage to your acne. Instead, wash your face and gently dab with a cloth to dry.
Never Touch Your Acne!
Don’t touch it, don’t scratch it, and DO NOT pop it! I know how tempting it is to pop those icky welts, especially when they’re so obvious on your face.
Your fingers are oily and will make things worse if you spread that oil onto the acne. Every time you touch, pick, or pop your acne, you risk more of it spreading. Acne-prone skin exists over most of your face, not just where your acne is at the moment.
Use Skin Products that Don’t Cause or Worsen Acne
Most of us use some form of skin care product for some reason or other. It is imperative that you don’t use any product that worsens or causes acne. When you buy skin products, check the container for the following comments:
- Won’t clog pores
If the product doesn’t say any of these, consider changing to a new product that does. As a side note, I would also recommend making sure that the skin products you’re using are natural products as these are better for your health.
Don’t be Scottish with Acne Medication
Any medication you use to relieve your acne should be applied to the whole face. Acne can spread to any region of acne-prone skin. The acne medications we use not only relieve acne, but they also prevent new acne from growing.
Applying the acne medication to your whole face will prevent your acne from resurfacing. Eventually, you won’t have any acne at all.
These are just a few of the simple methods you can use to minimize and relieve facial acne. If you’re still having trouble with acne after applying all of these tips, do consult with your dermatologist about further treatment.
